A recent survey of 455 organizations reveals widespread skepticism among SAP customers regarding the transition to a subscription model for S/4HANA. Many are concerned about the unpredictability of subscription costs over time, with 90% expressing worries about price increases. As SAP phases out support for its legacy ERP ECC solution by year’s end, customers face pressures to migrate. The survey highlights that 95% of respondents struggle to justify the ROI for the new ERP solution, complicating decisions around switching to S/4HANA.
Despite these concerns, SAP reports a 31% increase in cloud ERP revenues, indicating a level of customer acceptance for their offerings. However, many clients believe the modular approach to ERP, working with multiple vendors, is the future rather than an all-in-one solution. The traditional reliance on SAP is still prevalent, but customers appear to be cautious and are exploring their options amidst rising subscription costs, comparing potential benefits against their existing legacy systems.
