A recent survey reveals that a substantial number of SAP customers are not convinced about the shift to the S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. With worries over unpredictable subscription costs and the difficulty of making a return on investment (ROI) case, 90% of surveyed customers harbor concerns regarding the transition. Scott Hays from Rimini Street notes that the move from perpetual licenses to subscriptions may limit clients’ control and future options, leaving almost half of the participants unsure if they will adopt the cloud version in five years.
Despite these concerns, SAP’s cloud revenue reportedly rose by 31%, suggesting growth in their ERP offerings. Many customers still view SAP’s software as high quality but are leaning towards a modular ERP strategy that involves multiple vendors. Gartner’s Mike Tucciarone highlights that while reluctance about SAP’s licensing is apparent, a significant shift away from SAP has not occurred. Discussions around subscription pricing challenges in the SaaS market continue, and organizations are weighing various migration strategies while remaining focused on their options within the SAP ecosystem.
