Source: Kaspersky Securelist

In Q3 2025, Kaspersky solutions effectively blocked a staggering 389 million attacks worldwide, showcasing the increasing threat landscape. Among the findings, more than 2,200 new ransomware variants were detected, with close to 85,000 users targeted. A significant point highlighted was the UK National Crime Agency’s arrest linked to a ransomware attack on European airports in September 2025 involving HardBit ransomware. This incident reflects ongoing law enforcement efforts against cybercrime.

The report isn’t just limited to ransomware; it also documents a surge in other malware incidents, including miners. The use of AI in creating sophisticated ransomware-as-a-service platforms is alarming, particularly with a UK threat actor leveraging Claude for code development. Noteworthy statistics include the identification of 254,000 targeted users by miners and numerous attacks utilizing vulnerabilities in software like SonicWall and Microsoft SharePoint.
