The European Union’s new strategies, ‘Apply AI’ and ‘AI in Science’, aim to boost AI application in core industries and establish Europe as a leader in AI-driven scientific research. The ‘Apply AI’ approach promotes significant adoption of AI in sectors such as healthcare, energy, and automotive while underscoring the importance of safety.
EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized that the future of AI should be built in Europe, stating AI can provide smarter and faster solutions. Various initiatives, including a proposed budget of approximately 1 billion euros, will establish AI-focused centers, support important industries, and facilitate access to AI technologies for SMEs. The strategies are designed to strengthen Europe’s technological sovereignty and competitiveness in the global AI landscape, with significant upcoming events such as the AI in Science Summit scheduled for November 3rd in Copenhagen.
