Cisco’s new Unified Edge platform is designed to enhance AI and workload data handling in edge environments. It features a 25Gbps network uplink and is built on Intel Xeon SoC processors, offering 120TB of storage with dual power and cooling systems for reliability. The platform supports Zero Trust technology for application and AI model protection, allowing customers to customize their security configurations.

The platform can be centrally managed through Cisco’s Intersight, enabling IT teams to scale deployments across multiple locations. It focuses on flexibility, allowing integration with various third-party solutions and tailored edge systems. Analysts note the increasing demand for flexible infrastructures as companies expand AI and other edge applications, highlighting the importance of automated management in maintaining data security.

Experts emphasize that AI workloads are driving edge innovation, particularly in real-time fraud detection and retail analytics, which require low latency solutions. With a focus on efficiency and cost optimization, Cisco’s Unified Edge aims to meet the evolving needs of businesses in edge computing, with availability starting now and an official launch scheduled for December.
