AWS Lambda has launched provisioned mode for its SQS Event Source Mapping, a feature that enables dedicated polling resources to optimize event processing. With capabilities for 3x faster scaling and 16x higher concurrency, this new mode is designed to handle sudden traffic increases while ensuring low latency.
This innovative solution is particularly beneficial for industries requiring real-time event processing, such as gaming and finance. By allowing users to configure minimum and maximum event pollers, the provisioned mode can adapt to varying workloads efficiently. It significantly enhances application performance during high demand, supporting up to 20,000 concurrent requests and aggregate traffic of up to 2 GBps.
Activation is straightforward through the AWS Management Console. Moreover, monitoring through Amazon CloudWatch provides insights into the operation of the event pollers, thus empowering developers to maintain optimal performance even during fluctuations in demand. The provisioned mode is now available across all AWS Regions, bringing advanced event-handling capabilities to users.
