Anisphere has introduced ‘Cursor 2.0’, an upgraded version of its AI coding assistant that includes a specialized coding model called ‘Composer’. This model is said to complete most repetitive tasks in under 30 seconds, significantly improving coding speed. Released on October 29, it leverages Microsoft’s popular Visual Studio Code as its foundation and is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux.
The ‘Composer’ is described by the Cursor team as a ‘frontier model’ that operates four times faster than similar intelligent agent models. It utilizes a mixture-of-experts (MoE) language model optimized for software engineering through reinforcement learning. This is complemented by a semantic search function that enhances the ability to understand and work with extensive codebases. Cursor 2.0 also simplifies the traditionally cumbersome code review and testing processes, allowing users quick access to code changes made by agents, thus enhancing collaboration and workflow efficiency.
