Salesforce has completed its acquisition of Israeli startup Doti, aimed at enhancing AI-based search features in Slack. This strategic decision responds to the increasing need for efficient data search and interpretation, which is crucial for improving decision-making speed and workflow efficiency in businesses. According to Allied Market Research, the global enterprise search market is projected to grow from $5 billion in 2022 to $12.2 billion by 2032, with an expected CAGR of 9.6%. Slack has offered enterprise AI search capabilities since March, showcasing its efforts to optimize information retrieval across applications and services.
Analysts view this acquisition as a logical step for Salesforce to expand its capabilities in the enterprise search domain. Doti’s primary product lineup features AI-driven enterprise search bots that integrate with a variety of applications such as Datadog, GitLab, Jira, Confluence, Notion, and Zendesk. HFS Research’s Ashwin Venkatesan explains that Doti goes beyond simple information retrieval by interpreting information in real-time for users and AI agents. This capability aligns with Salesforce’s vision of enhancing Slack as a workspace for automated workflows, reinforcing the conversation-context-execution link within its agent-centric roadmap. Doti’s existing architecture includes knowledge graphs and an understanding of user intent, which would take years to build in-house, making the acquisition strategically advantageous for Salesforce ahead of increasing competition in the AI-driven enterprise search market.
