Cisco Germany’s internal AI implementation began with a focus on employee training, particularly in the effective use of AI tools and understanding legal frameworks like GDPR. Initial assessments revealed that many employees had limited knowledge of AI, prompting the company to provide comprehensive training programs. This initiative has proven successful as AI usage surged with the launch of the proprietary platform, Circuit, in May 2024, enabling around 50,000 employees to utilize AI daily.
Despite this progress, Cisco faces challenges like shadow AI, where employees may resort to insecure external AI tools. To combat this, the company stresses regular training alongside technical solutions to ensure secure AI use. Quality assurance remains a priority, as employees must verify AI outputs to prevent reliance on outdated or inaccurate information. Cisco’s overall approach combines a smaller-scale, value-driven AI deployment strategy with a commitment to continuous learning and management support to foster a proactive AI culture across the organization.
