The ARTZA-IA project aims to revolutionize extensive livestock farming by integrating advanced digital technologies, including AI, IoT, satellite remote sensing, and real-time data analytics. This collaboration among ENKOA Systems, Batura Mobile, Sarenet, Satlantis, and Neiker is focused on creating an integrated management platform that allows ranchers to automate herd management and optimize pasture usage. CEO Gerardo Brossy of Pappstor emphasizes that the project is designed to resolve key challenges in the sector such as generational transition, lack of skilled labor, and land use optimization.

One innovative application of this project is the virtual fencing system, which allows ranchers to set up virtual boundaries for their livestock without physical barriers. The collars worn by the animals use GPS technology to track their location and interact with ranchers remotely. As this technology is put into practice across farms in Galicia, the Basque Country, and Soria, further advancements in animal behavior analysis will enhance pasture management and animal welfare. The project aspires not only to facilitate better pasture management but also to promote animal welfare by creating patterns of knowledge, aiding crucial decision-making regarding nutrition and health.
