AWS Transfer Family SFTP connectors now enable VPC-based connectivity for secure file transfers to private SFTP servers, eliminating the need for public internet exposure. Users can easily connect to on-premises systems or partner-hosted servers through AWS Direct Connect and VPN, while applying existing VPC security controls to all transfers.

These connectors streamline workflows for hybrid environments and regulated industries, ensuring compliance with security requirements by routing all file transfers through centralized firewalls within VPCs. The setup process is simplified, allowing developers to configure connections in minutes using the AWS Management Console, CLI, or SDK, thus avoiding complex scripting or third-party tools.

With the new feature, organizations can utilize higher bandwidth capacity for large file transfers and retain existing IP configurations for partner allowlists. Available in 21 AWS regions, this capability provides a unified solution for both internal and external file transfers, promoting operational efficiency while enhancing security and compliance.
